What the Enphase IQ9 does
A microinverter sits behind one to four panels and converts their output on the roof, so shade or a fault on one panel does not pull down the rest of the array. With 427 W of AC output, the Enphase IQ9 suits an array of about 0.4–0.6 kWp, as installers commonly size the panels up to 30% above the inverter's rating.
In Germany, an array of the same size produces about 384 kWh a year, assuming a conservative 900 kWh per kWp: worth €30 a year fed into the grid at 7.70 ct per kWh, and up to €142 used at home instead of buying power at 37.0 ct.
